CURRENT VBA COMMISSIONER
REDSMAN444 is the current VBA league commissioner. He has confirmed that he will fulfill his role as commish for the inaugural season. He is still debating whether or not to run for another term when we have our election in the middle of the 1st season of 2k10.
He has provided the assigned seed list, and PPLife has posted the list in the registration forum.
He has approved a February 1, 2010 launch for open registration.
He has set a deadline for the assigned seeds to secure their membership with $20 (subscription)entry fee at February 15th, before losing their assigned seed, in which everyone below moves up.
Also, he has requested preferred unassigned seeds to Muhammad Avi & Bootycrusher, based on game completion criteria at end of 2k9 season. He also set a special deadline for these members to secure their spot at February 7, 2010.

Habitual league droppers - solution
In a discussion between the commish (REDSMAN444), pplife, and several interviewed veterans with an exceptional history of honoring their league commitments from start to finish, a resolution was formed to curb mid-season dropping from our leagues, for the betterment of the active members in our gaming club.
The VBA democratic vision statement also includes forgiveness for previous bad league behavior. Harmonious with our liberal ideals, everyone has always received a 2nd, 3rd and sometimes a 4th chance to demonstrate reformed league behavior. In 4 years of existence, only 1 member has ever received a permanent ban from the gaming club. However, some form of consequence for damage done in the league is necessary to prevent abuse of our liberal policies.
It has been decided that members that have demonstrated a pattern of dropping our MLB or NFL leagues in the middle of a season, causing a burden and sometimes damage to the flow of our league(s), will be required to leave a security deposit with the league commisioner, guaranteeing they will finish their season, abiding by all the leagues rules and activity requirements. If they fulfill this promise, we will lift their habitual-quitter-status, and return their security deposit. If they fail to honor the commitment, they simply lose the security deposit, and the proceeds go directly into the prize fund, and shared amongst all of the active members.
For those of you that have met us for the first time in Madden10, and have never played in our baseball leagues, our baseball guys always had a motto about mid-season droppers being the biggest pussies of virtual sports.
We can't disturb the harmony of our baseball club by letting people with these tendencies come into the VBA leagues with no sense of accountability, but we don't want to slam the door in their faces either.
Level 1 quitter: $20 security deposit
Level 2 quitter: $40 security deposit
This is checkmate for pussies, so if you dont think you can man up this time around, then simply choose to pass on participation, because we will not get soft and return your security deposit even if you come up with a sob story on why you have to quit this time.

ABOUT THE VBA
Welcome to the VBA!

Here is a little history...
The VBA was originally formed as an amateur club in MLB 2k6 under the name "Players Club". There was a combined total of 12 amateur seasons, all of which completed with a world series.
The amateur club legacy consisted of 5 main seasons, 162 games each, using standard MLB teams. In between each season, there were also 1 or 2 additional mid-season draft leagues, 82 games each.
The VBA (Video Baseball Association) was formed as our professional division in 2007, and we renamed our amateur (free) division to VBAA.
The VBA will launch season #18 on Saturday, March 6.
1. VBA 1
2. VBA 2 (Pro-Am Draft)
3 VBA 3
4. VBA 4 (50 Club Draft)
5. VBA5 (2k7 Finale Draft)
6. VBA 6 (2k8 game release)
7. VBA 7D (Pro-Am Draft)
8. VBA 8
9. VBA 9 (Pro-Am Modified MLB)
10.VBA10
11.VBA11
12. VBA12
13. VBA13 (Short Season Pro-Am Draft, waiting on 2k server patch)
14. VBA14 (pro-am draft)
15. VBA15
16. VBA16D (pro-am draft)
17 VBA17
The main goal of turning our club into a professional organization was to curb the constant problem of gamers joining leagues and quitting or going inactive when they become dissatisfied with their progress/record, etc., or after making foolish trades. This was the biggest downfall of online sports leagues.
By requiring a small commitment from each participant, they will be less inclined to drop in mid-season, be more careful with trades, and take our rules/policies more seriously.
VBA is a non-profit organization and 100% of all entry fees are given away at the end of season for specific accomplishments, with the grand prize awarded to the world series champion.
The organization's combined pro & amateur total season history is currently:
29 completed seasons
